Reception in the Order at our February meeting: congrats, Bernie!
Picture
September brought many changes, but praise the good Lord for new vocations! Congrats Ashton, Kris, John, Andree, and Jordi!
Our Members
  • President: Mrs. Christina Valenzuela, OP
  • Vice President: Mr. Walter Niland, OP
Our fraternity is composed of men and women from various walks of life in the Boston area who are all dedicated to serving the world through our call to follow St. Dominic as lay people. Currently, we are blessed with about 25 active members at all different stages of formation.  Fraternity life is an important part of our vocation, so once a month we gather to pray, study and join in community together. Our apostolate is ongoing, but strengthened during these regular meetings. Twice a year, we are invited to gather with other Lay Dominicans in our region.

Our Communal Apostolate: Pro Life!
Over the years, it has become apparent that our fraternity carries a particular charism for pro-life charitable works.  Our primary avenues for this work are:
  1. Donating items monthly to Birthright in Hudson-Marlborough.
  2. Sponsoring tables at the annual Gala for First Concern pregnancy center.
We also welcome prayer line requests through our home page and are happy to offer our monthly community rosary for your intentions.

In your kindness, please remember our members, especially the deceased brothers and sisters of our fraternity in your prayers.

Our Patron
        St. Martin de Porres, O.P. (Dec 9, 1579-Nov 3, 1639) was born in Lima, Peru to a Spanish gentleman and a freed slave-woman.  He joined the Dominicans as a lay brother at the age of fifteen and dedicated himself to any and every task of service, no matter how small.  Among the Dominicans, he served as barber, infirmarian and farm laborer.  Outside the community, he frequently tended to the poor and even helped to establish an orphanage and children's hospital.  During his lifetime, the saint was known for his austerity and commitment to penance.  He was also reported to be a miracle-worker and was blessed with gifts of bilocation, levitation and the ability to communicate with some animals.  He was a great friend of a fellow Third Order Dominican, Saint Rose of Lima.

Prayer to St. Martin de Porres

To you, Saint Martin de Porres, we prayerfully lift up our hearts
filled with serene confidence and devotion.
Mindful of your unbounded and helpful charity to all levels of society
and also of your meekness and humility of heart,
we offer our petitions to you.
Pour out upon our families the precious gift
of your solicitous and generous intercession;
show to the people of every race and every color the paths of unity and of justice;
implore from our Father in heaven the coming of his kingdom,
so that through mutual benevolence in God,
men may increase the fruits of grace
and merit the rewards of eternal life. Amen.
